SMOLBA (WIP)
1v1 / 2v2 MOBA with quick game pace and a Roguelike item system.
SMOLBA is developed in Unity using Steam networking for matchmaking and is currently in prototype phase.
Basic Concept
SMOLBA lets you queue up solo or with a friend for a 1v1 or 2v2 game session (~10 min each) and throws you into the game as soon as matchmaking is complete.
Similarly to any MOBA, your objective is to destroy the other team's turrets and push forward to the Nexus to win the game.
To earn experience you can kill minions, players or turrets and once back in your base you can use this experience to upgrade your abilities.
Mechanically Pure
SMOLBA aims to be a mechanically and strategically casual & intuitive experience.
The core of it is very similar to many other MOBAs, yet the mechanical focus is purely around the PvP-side of the game rather than introducing complex game mechanics to fill the void.
Dodge skillshots, poke with abilities and auto attacks and make sure the enemy reaches 0 HP before you do. That's all you really need to learn mechanically to get going.
Strategically Refreshing
Strategically, there is a new twist to the item system that most MOBAs offer.
Instead a shop with 100+ items, where most players purchase the same 6-10 items every game SMOLBA offers a unique set of "items" (ability upgrades) every game.
How does this work?
Each game you start with three abilities.
Ability 1 revolves around damage, ability 2 around CC and ability 3 around defence.
Each game the shop will give both players the same randomized pool of upgrades they can choose from and each time you level up you get offered a selection of three upgrades from that pool.
Why SMOLBA?
The incredible growth of the simple, colorful, casual multiplayer games that arose over 2020 - 2022 proves there is a demand for more.
Indie games such as Among Us, Fall Guys and Crab Game grew immensely not only in play-count, but also in viewership on YouTube and Twitch. Intuitive gamepaly, fast game pace and viewer-friendly content made these (and many more) titles rise to the top of the charts in no time.
SMOLBA is designed around these success factors, but is in its essence a MOBA game borrowing Roguelike mechanics to make each game feel like a unique experience.
Vicious Growth (WIP)
Action RPG Roguelike. Evolve your abilities and push yourself through a procedurally generated level. Think hard about your choices, itemize well and use your skills to reach the end.
Start with a few basic abilities and fight your way through increasingly difficult enemies to upgrade your abilities and loot gear.
Pick your favourite ability combinations and create unique builds with items that you find along the way.
What type of player do you want to be? Will you dash into a big group of mobs, praying that your raw damage will save you? Do you build movement speed and choose crowd control upgrades to strategically kite mobs around the room?
Vicious Growth tries to take the best aspects from well known and loved Roguelike titles in terms of strategy, while leaning on fast paced ARPG combat to create a brand new experience.
